"The United States has enormous stake in seeing success in Tunisia and the creation of greater opportunity and more business investment in Tunisia," Obama said after an Oval Office meeting the Tunisian Prime Minister Beji Caid Essebsi.
"Tunisia has been an inspiration to all of us who believe that each individual, man and woman, has certain inalienable rights," Obama said. "We are deeply encouraged by the progress that has already been made in this short period of time."

"There is a sense in the administration that the United States has a larger stake in Tunisia being a success in the model it could set for other countries," said Jon Alterman, a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.

La révolution arabe frappe WallStreet... Des manifestants arrêtés.

Quelque 700 personnes ont été arrêtées hier à New York parce qu'elles bloquaient la circulation sur le pont de Brooklyn, provoquant sa fermeture, pour protester contre le système financier. En dépit du caractère pacifique de la manifestation, "plus de 700 personnes ont été arrêtées. La plupart pour atteinte à l'ordre public", a précisé un porte-parole de la police. Certains des manifestants ont été relâchés après quelques heures tandis que d'autres devaient être détenus 24 heures ou faire l'objet de poursuites.
La manifestation avait débuté dans l'après-midi à Liberty Plaza, dans le quartier de la finance, où campent depuis deux semaines des militants dumouvement "Occupons Wall Street". Des centaines de personnes se sont ensuite dirigées vers le pont de Brooklyn, selon la police qui a précisé que la majorité des manifestants étaient restés sur le trottoir, sans incident.
Des militants d'"Occupons Wall Street", qui s'inspire des mouvements pro-démocratiques du printemps arabe, ont indiqué camper dans un parc du sud de Manhattan pour traduire leur "mécontentement provoqué par l'actuel climat politique et économique". "Nous sommes de toutes les races, tous les sexes, toutes les croyances. Nous sommes la majorité. Nous sommes les 99%. Et, nous ne voulons plus être silencieux", ont-ils expliqué sur leur site internet. Il s'agit du parc Zucotti (occupé depuis le 17 septembre) et ils s'attendent à être rejoint par davantage de participants au cours des mois à venir. Une manifestation dans le même esprit a également eu lieu à Boston, aux abords des bureaux de la Bank of America. Vingt-quatre personnes ont été arrêtées. Selon les organisateurs, 3000 personnes y ont participé.

La veille une vidéo du groupe Anonymous circulait déjà sur la toile. Il s'agit du même groupe de cyber -hackers qui a supporté les révolutionnaire en Tunisie où la première révolution arabe fut lancée.

The Occupy Wall Street movement will demand an end to "the influence money has over our representatives in Washington." The organizers state:"The time has come to deploy this emerging stratagem against the greatest corrupter of our democracy: Wall Street, the financial Gomorrah of America". By attempting this occupation, the organizers hope to strengthen and amplify their message to D.C. that politicians must begin addressing the problem of special interests' influence on government.
